Who is responsible

TripPilot (https://asktrippilot.com) is run by the TripPilot team. For any privacy question, contact us through our contact form.

What we collect and why

• Your chat messages. To answer you, we send your messages to Google's Gemini AI. We don't save your chats on our server. Your chat history is kept only in your own browser, and you can delete it with "New trip".
• Plans you share or create. When you share a trip or the AI makes an itinerary, we save it on our server so the link works. Anyone with the link can see it, so don't put private details in it.
• Your email, if you ask for it. For price alerts and the newsletter we store your email and the routes you chose. We only use it for what you asked for. Every email has a link to stop it, and we delete stopped alerts and unsubscribed emails.
• Your account, if you make one. We keep your email and the list of plans and trips you saved (with their edit keys, so you can edit them on any device). We use your email only to send login links. You can delete your account on the "My trips" page at any time.
• Contact messages. If you write to us, we get your name, email and message, and use them only to reply.
• Basic technical data. Like every website, our server sees your IP address. We use it only for a short time to stop spam and abuse (for example, limiting how many messages one visitor can send).
• Visit counts. We count page views with our own simple tool, without cookies. To count visitors we use a code made from your IP address and browser that changes every day and is never saved, so we can't recognize you later.

Your browser

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. If you log in, we set one cookie that keeps you logged in for 30 days; it's removed when you log out. We store a few things in your browser's local storage: your chat history, the city you last searched on the Deals page, your Guess the City scores, and secret keys that let you edit your own plans. You can clear them in your browser settings at any time.

Services we use

To run TripPilot we use trusted services, which get only the data they need:

• Google Gemini answers chat messages and writes guides.
• Travelpayouts / Aviasales provide flight prices. Flight and hotel links take you to partner sites (like Aviasales and Booking.com), which have their own privacy policies and may use cookies to track bookings for our commission.
• Resend sends our emails (price alerts, newsletter and confirmations).
• OpenStreetMap shows maps and finds places you add to a plan.
• Google Fonts provides the fonts on this site.
• Our hosting provider runs the server where saved plans and emails are stored.

How long we keep data

• Price alerts: until you stop them, or after the travel month has passed.
• Account: until you delete it. Login links expire after 20 minutes.
• Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. Unconfirmed sign-ups are not used.
• Shared trips and plans: as long as the link may be needed. Ask us to delete one any time.
• Contact messages: as long as needed to help you.

Your rights

You can ask us to show, correct or delete the personal data we have about you, or stop using it. Write to us through our contact form. If you live in the EU, UK or a similar place, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

TripPilot is not meant for children under 16. We don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Big changes will be shown on the site.
